This week we have been looking at the poem 'The Sound Collector' by Roger McGough.  We then listened to all of the sounds we could hear in and around the school, and used them to innovate our own class poem.  (Below is a copy of that poem).  We then used a video making app to transform our class poem into a performance, using images to support our retelling of the poem. Here are a selection of some of the videos we made...

'The Sound Collector' by Horse Chestnut

This week we have been looking at the poem 'The Rhythm of Life’ Michael Rosen.  We learnt the poem off by heart and practiced reciting it to a piece of music.  Then, in Music we used instruments to help perform our poem to a rhythmical beat.

The Rhythm of Life

Today was Antarctic Day in Year 2 and we arrived at school in warm layers and boots! To start the day, we made and baked sledge biscuits using the same recipe that Robert Falcon Scott and his team would have eaten on their brave mission. Next, we created our expedition teams in the main hall. We came up with some fantastic names and team poses! Then, we filled our team sledges and pulled them across the Antarctic fields to complete our team challenges. After that, we headed down to the woods where we ate our biscuits around a real campfire with warm hot chocolate, yum! Finally, we played campfire games to celebrate competing our expedition!
