Silver Birch

Welcome to Silver Birch!

We hope you enjoy finding out about what we have been learning in class!

We have been learning about length in Silver Birch and how to measure length using metre sticks. Here we are measuring things in our classroom.

Here are our igloos that we made! We put them in our school kiln and then painted them and sprinkled them with glitter to make them look cold and sparkly!

We have been very busy in Silver Birch!  We have been learning about the work of Andy Goldsworthy and the sculptures that he makes out of natural materials.  We wanted to create our own natural sculptures and went down into our school woods and collected natural materials.  We then created our own sculptures on our school playground.  We had a lot of fun!

During our Polar Regions topic, we investigated how we could design and make a suitable bridge for penguins to cross them without being eaten by a killer whale! We investigated what types of bridges there are in the world and then we investigated how to strengthen our bridge using a range of joining techniques. Here are some of the bridges we made!
