Computing

Welcome to Computing at Chase Lane!

The arrival of the new National Curriculum in 2014 saw the introduction of the new subject of Computing, which replaces ICT. The programme of study has been developed to equip children and young people with the skills, knowledge and understanding they will need to participate effectively in the modern digital world.

At Chase Lane, we follow the Rising Stars computing scheme of work, ‘Switched on Computing’ which delivers a clear progression of skills from Early Years Foundation Stage, Year 1 through to Year 6. This scheme of work includes six flexible units for each year group covering:

  • Programming
  • Computational thinking
  • Creativity
  • Computer networks
  • Communication and collaboration
  • Productivity

Each class (from nursery to year 6) has a computing lesson every week in our state of the art Computing Suite equipped with 31 computers, iPads, LearnPads and various other equipment.

In addition to this, we run regular lunchtime computing clubs and an after school ‘Code Club’.
