  More than 300 children took part in this year's 'Reach for the Stars' book journey. One thousand eight hundred & twenty four books were read & some of the most impressive reviews ever, were composed. Well done everyone, you should be very proud of yourselves!

  

• Chase Lane wins award

  Chase Lane Primary School & Nursery has been awarded an Essex Language & Communications School Bronze Award by Essex County Council, for showing a commitment to the development of Language and Communications.

• Chase Lane victorious at Indoor Athletics

  On Friday 13th May 28 children from years 3 and 4 represented the school at the indoor athletics tournament.

  There was competition from 7 schools with Chase Lane finishing first with a points total of 668. Stand out performances came from Ty Greene in the vertical jumps Sam Perry and Megan Lawrie in the Long Jumps, Tommy Durrant in the chest push, Tilly in speed bounce, Ty Greene and Amber Ward in 5 strides all winning their events. On the track McKenzie Baker, Ellis Taylor, Ty Greene, Sam Perry, Cheyenne Smith and Megan Lawrie all impressed with their speed.

  The children represented the school impeccably and I was impressed with their behaviour and sportsmanship.

• Children's University at Easter

  The Essex Children's University have put together a list of places where you can earn passport stamps during the Easter holiday. Some of the activities are free and others have a small charge.

• #RocketScience

  Our children are preparing to become space biologists and embark on a voyage of discovery by growing seeds that have been into space.

  In September, 2kg of rocket seeds were flown to the International Space Station (ISS) on Soyuz 44S where they will spend several months in microgravity before returning to Earth in March 2016. The seeds have been sent as part of Rocket Science, an educational project launched by the RHS Campaign for School Gardening and the UK Space Agency. 

   

  We will be one of a group of schools that will receive a packet of 100 seeds from space, which we will grow alongside seeds that haven't been to space and measure the differences over seven weeks. The children won't know which seed packet contains which seeds until all results have been collected by the RHS Campaign for School Gardening and analysed by professional biostatisticians. 

  This is a wonderful opportunity for our children to be involved in a real-life project that could shape the future of space travel.
